Branding & Identity

Brand Strategy.
Identity Design.
Built to Launch.

Launch Industries is a Seattle, Washington branding practice for small and mid-sized businesses. We name companies, design identities, write brand voices, and build the brand systems that turn a good idea into a recognizable business. Since 2022, we've worked with more than 1,100 organizations.

We're founder-led, with an in-house design team. No offshoring, no white-labeled freelancers, no strategy deck that gets handed to a different agency for execution. Strategy and design live under one roof, so the brand you ship is the brand you planned.

What Our Branding Service Covers

Nine focus areas across strategy, identity, and activation. Pick what fits, or combine them into a full brand engagement.

Brand Strategy

Positioning, target audience, value propositions, and the strategic spine that every visual decision later hangs on. Strategy first, design second.

Logo & Visual Identity

Primary logo, secondary marks, monograms, and the full visual identity system that scales from a favicon to a building sign.

Color & Type Systems

Color palettes with accessibility ratios baked in, typography hierarchies, and rules that hold up across web, print, and packaging.

Brand Voice & Messaging

Tone of voice, vocabulary, message hierarchy, and the way your brand actually sounds in email, on a billboard, and on a customer service call.

Brand Guidelines & Books

Concise, usable guidelines (not 90-page PDFs nobody opens) covering usage rules, do's and don'ts, accessibility, and production-ready examples.

Brand Audits

An honest health check on your existing brand: where it's inconsistent, where it's dated, what's working, and what to prioritize fixing first.

Rebrands & Refreshes

Full rebrands when the old identity no longer fits, or evolutionary refreshes when the equity is real and the goal is to modernize, not replace.

Brand Activation

Rolling the new brand out across website, packaging, signage, social, sales decks, and internal docs. Templates, training, and a launch checklist included.

How We Approach Branding Projects

Four phases, run in sequence, with clear deliverables at every stage. You see the strategic work before any design pixel gets pushed.

01

Discovery

Stakeholder interviews, internal brand audit, competitive landscape, and a clear-eyed read on where the brand sits today. We listen first, write second, design third.

02

Strategy

Positioning statement, audience definition, value propositions, voice and tone, and the strategic brief that every later decision is measured against.

03

Design

Visual system development: logo concepts, color, typography, iconography, layout direction, and reusable patterns. Two or three directions, narrowed to one.

04

Activation

Brand guidelines, asset library, templates, team training, and the rollout plan across every touchpoint that matters. The new brand lands, it doesn't just exist.

Common Branding Use Cases

Where small and mid-sized businesses tend to engage us. Most projects are one of these eight scenarios, sometimes two stacked together.

Brand new startup

You have a great idea and need everything: name, identity, voice, website starter, and a live brand documentation site that can guide every decision for the next two years.

Rebrand after a pivot

Your business has changed (new market, new product, new audience) and the old brand is now actively in the way. Time for a real rebrand, not just a logo tweak.

Brand refresh (evolve, don't replace)

There's real brand equity worth keeping. We modernize the system (color, type, layout, voice) while keeping recognition intact. Faster, cheaper, and lower risk.

Naming a new product line

You have an established parent brand and need to name a new product, service, or sub-brand. We handle the linguistic work, the trademark pre-check, and the sub-brand architecture.

Multi-brand architecture

A masterbrand with several sub-brands or product lines. We define how they relate visually, verbally, and strategically (endorsed, branded house, house of brands) so they reinforce instead of compete.

New market entry

Entering cannabis, food and beverage, or another regulated or culture-driven category. We translate your brand for the new audience without losing what made it work the first time.

Nonprofit capital campaign

A rebrand timed to a capital campaign or major program launch. Donor-credible, mission-aligned, and built to scale across grant applications, signage, and event collateral.

Voice and messaging only

Your visuals work, but the words don't. We build voice guidelines, tagline systems, message hierarchies, and a vocabulary your team can actually use.

Industries We've Branded

Vertical-specific category knowledge, audience tells, and regulatory edge cases we've already worked through, so your brand ships without category-specific surprises.

Cannabis

Dispensary brands, edibles, beverages, and cultivation operations. We know the compliance edge cases (packaging rules, advertising restrictions, METRC-adjacent labeling) so the brand ships without a state-level rewrite.

Food & Beverage

Restaurants, fast-casual concepts, packaged goods, breweries, and commissary kitchens. Identities that hold up on a menu, a can, a delivery bag, and a Yelp profile photo.

Professional Services

Consulting firms, agencies, B2B SaaS, and trade services. Brands that look credible in a boardroom, on a proposal cover, and in a LinkedIn banner, without looking like every other agency.

Nonprofits & Mission-Driven

Impact-focused identities for community programs, public agencies, and nonprofits. Brands that hold up across grant narratives, donor decks, public signage, and bilingual outreach.

Deliverables, Defined

Three fixed-fee engagements, with concrete deliverables and a payment-plan option. No mystery scope, no surprise add-ons mid-project.

Custom font selection

Both tiers include type pairings from Google Fonts and other open-license libraries. If you'd like a premium or licensed custom font (e.g. Pangram Pangram, Klim, Adobe Fonts), the licensing cost is billed separately and quoted up front.

Trademark-ready handoff

Want to pursue a trademark? On request, we'll prepare a handoff brief for your IP attorney with the logo, marks, type, and color usage documented in the format trademark counsel typically asks for. Filing and clearance are handled by your attorney.

What Makes a Good Brand

Four properties every brand we ship is tested against. If a direction fails on one of these, it doesn't make the final round.

Memorable

It sticks. Someone can describe your brand to a friend after one exposure. The logo, the colors, the voice, or the name do the heavy lifting without you in the room.

Durable

It still works in five years. We design for longevity, not just for what's trending in design Twitter this quarter. Type choices, color logic, and naming all age well.

Ownable

It's defensible: in trademark, in domain, in customer recognition. We pre-clear names against USPTO TESS, check domain and social availability, and steer away from category clichés.

Scalable

It grows with you. From a single logo to a multi-product, multi-location, multi-language system. The brand expression flexes; the strategic core stays consistent.

Why Launch for Branding

Four reasons clients pick Launch over the big agencies and the boutique studios. Since 2022, more than 1,100 organizations have trusted us with brand work.

In-House Team

Strategists, designers, and writers in-house. No offshoring, no marketplace freelancers stitched together. The team you meet in week one is the team that ships in week twelve.

Strategy + Design Under One Roof

We don't hand off a strategy deck and walk away from execution. The same team that defines the positioning also designs the logo. Strategy survives contact with the page.

Industry Depth

Real depth in cannabis, food and beverage, professional services, and nonprofit work. We know the regulatory traps, the audience tells, and the design tropes worth avoiding in each.

Transparent Pricing

Fixed-fee scopes, no surprise hourly bills, no padding for revision rounds we know you'll need. You see the engagement structure and the deliverables before you sign.

Tokenized Brand System

Change Once. Update Everywhere.

A tokenized brand system stores every brand decision, colors, fonts, spacing, button styles, shadow depths, in a single source of truth. When you change a value once, it updates across every page, document, and asset that uses it.

One Source of Truth

Every color, font, spacing value, and component style is named and stored centrally. "--li-inclusive-blue" instead of "#51d9dd" pasted in 200 places. No hunting through files when something needs to change.

Updates in Minutes

Want to darken the primary red? Tweak the line spacing? Switch the heading font? Change the value once, ship it, and every page that uses that token updates together. What used to take a designer days now takes minutes.

Stays Consistent As You Grow

New team members can't accidentally use the wrong red or font. New pages inherit the system automatically. Your brand stays sharp across the website, PDFs, social, presentations, and proposals, without anyone having to police it.

Without tokens vs. with tokens

Without (the old way)

  • "Can you make the red a bit darker?" → designer combs through 18 files, 47 instances, takes a day.
  • New hire builds a slide deck and grabs the wrong red from a Google search.
  • The website red, the PDF red, and the Canva template red all drift apart over time.

With (a tokenized system)

  • "Make the red darker" → change --li-red once, every surface updates.
  • New hire pulls from the token library, can't pick a wrong value if they tried.
  • Website, PDF, social, and proposals all stay in lockstep, with no policing required.

Sample Work: LIDS

The Launch Industries Design System is a live sample of how we turn brand rules into a usable operating system: tokens, typography, color rules, spacing, components, and motion logic that can guide a full website or application.

For clients, that means fewer one-off design decisions, cleaner handoff to developers, and a brand that holds together across pages, PDFs, social assets, proposals, and internal tools.

Branding Service FAQ

How much does branding cost?

Three flat-rate options. Starter Brand is $1,250 (or $225/month for 6 months) and includes a logo by a real designer, color palette, type system, and a three-page brand quick reference PDF — backed by our satisfaction guarantee (refund anything paid above $500 if you're not satisfied). Brand Refresh is $1,750 (or $315/month for 6 months) and uses your existing logo as the foundation while adding strategy, color, type, a tokenized design system, and a live HTML documentation site. Full Brand is $2,500 (or $450/month for 6 months) and is the same complete system but with a brand-new logo by a real designer. Motion design is not included in any tier and is available as a custom add-on. Larger projects with packaging, multi-brand architecture, or extensive production work are quoted separately.

Project-based or retainer?

Most branding work is project-based with a clear scope and milestones. Once a brand ships, many clients move to a small monthly retainer for design support: new collateral, social templates, packaging revisions, and the inevitable one-off requests. Retainers are month-to-month, no annual lock-in.

Do we own the files?

Yes. All branding engagements are structured as work-for-hire with full IP transfer on final payment. You get the source files (AI, SVG, PDF), and (on Full Brand) ownership of your live HTML brand documentation site. We also provide a clear license for any third-party typefaces. Some custom typography or photography may carry separate licensing terms, and we flag that up front.

What if we don't like the first concepts?

Every engagement includes structured revision rounds (typically two on strategy, two on design direction, two on refinement). If the first round misses, that's almost always a discovery problem, and we'll go back to the brief before we go back to the design tool. We've never had a project where we couldn't find the right direction together.

Do you do trademark searches?

No. We are not trademark attorneys and we do not provide trademark clearance, filing, or legal opinions. What we will do, on request, is prepare a handoff document for you to give to an intellectual property (IP) attorney. The handoff packages your logo, marks, type, and color usage in the format trademark counsel typically asks for, so your attorney can run the actual searches and filings efficiently.

How long does branding take?

Starter Brand ships in 2 to 3 weeks. Full Brand runs 6 to 10 weeks. Larger custom-scope projects (packaging, multi-brand architecture) typically run 14 to 20 weeks. We work in weekly milestones with a clear schedule, so you always know what's coming and when feedback is due.

Can we just get a logo?

Not from Launch. Our minimum branding engagement is the Logo + Starter Brand Kit ($1,250), because a logo without a type system, color palette, and usage rules is a file, not a brand. It looks great on launch day and falls apart by month six. If you really just want a logo on its own, we recommend 99designs (you'll find them in our software directory) for crowdsourced logo work, and we're happy to take it from there if you decide to upgrade to a full brand later.

What file formats do you deliver?

Vector source files (AI, SVG, EPS), raster exports (PNG, JPG), and a three-page PDF brand quick reference on Starter Brand. On Full Brand, you also get a live HTML brand documentation site. Logos are delivered in full-color, one-color, reversed, and monochrome variants, at multiple aspect ratios, with clear naming conventions and a usage cheat sheet.

Do you design packaging?

Yes, as an add-on. Packaging design (dielines, label systems, regulatory compliance for cannabis and food and beverage) is billed through our Dynamic Hourly Flex Plan, not as part of the flat-rate Starter or Full Brand engagements. We work with established print and packaging vendors and handle press checks for higher-stakes runs.

Can you redesign while keeping our existing logo?

Yes, that's a brand refresh engagement. We evolve color, typography, layout, voice, and collateral while leaving the core mark intact (or doing a minimal tune-up on it). Lower risk, faster timeline, and we preserve the recognition you've already built.

Ready for a Brand That Can Scale?

A free 30-minute discovery call. We'll listen, ask a few sharp questions, and tell you the two or three brand moves we'd make first. No deck, no pitch.
